California Scholarship Federation springs into second semester

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) club launched its spring applications for second semester.

“Applying to CSF is rewarding in a sense because only those with qualifying grades are able to join,” said first vice president Annie Zhao. “It recognizes students’ academic achievements and comes with benefits like being called first to graduate and the ability to include your membership on college applications.”

Membership for the second semester is determined by the grades earned in the first semester of the school year. Through a point system, students must earn a minimum of ten points from their first semester’s grades in order to qualify for CSF. Earning a “D” or an “F” grade in any subject, disqualifies one from membership for that application period.

“The reason why I joined CSF is because it pushes me to stay on top of my grades,” said junior Eric Gonzalez. “My AP World History Teacher Mrs.Hansen recommended it and my older brother did it as well.”

In order to become a life member of CSF and receive all of the benefits, students must apply and be accepted by CSF for at least four semesters. However, the second semester of freshman year cannot be included in the four required semesters to become a life member.

“As a senior, CSF is important to me because it opened me up to many more opportunities in the future,” said senior Adrian Solorzano. “Without the pandemic, I would have been tutoring after hours of school and helping others which I find fulfilling.”

The CSF application launched on January 27, 2021 and can be accessed through https://linktr.ee/SchurrHighCSF. The application will close on February 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. and CSF will not be accepting any late applications.
