Winter Homecoming will be held this Friday in the Byers’ Gymnasium, Jan. 25, and will begin at 5 p.m.

Spartans basketball players will face off against the Bell Gardens Lancers. Junior varsity boys will begin at 3:15 p.m., varsity girls will begin at 5 p.m. and varsity boys will start at 7 p.m.

“Winter Homecoming is the best homecoming. I believe we will have a great turnout, no doubt about it. The game is going to be a good one, win or lose. The food trucks and games are a plus; people will have a ton of fun with all that delicious food,” said USB Historian Anthony Zambrano. “Since this is my last homecoming, I plan on making it the best one yet. Eating as much as I can, playing all the games and rooting for my school. No matter the outcome of the game, I plan on making the most of my time with all my friends.”

Food may be purchased from the variety of food trucks such as Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream, Austyn’s Burger, Cocina Fresca, D’s Superblend and Creative Eats. They will be available on upper campus on Friday from 2:00 – 8:30 p.m. The snack bar in the gym will also be open and providing snacks, such as candy chips and drinks.

“I feel excited because of the food trucks. I have gone to the homecoming games every year with my friends. It’s fun to just watch the game and hang out after school events,” said senior Brissa Meza.

Tickets will be available at the door. Prices will range depending on age: $5 for students and adults and $3 for children ages 11 and younger and for seniors 55 and older.

It’s bittersweet knowing it’s my last homecoming game and my last few games of my high school basketball career but it’s also an honor to have played alongside this team. We’ve worked really hard all season and even though it hasn’t gone the way we wanted it to I know we will give it our absolute best. I’m going to do whatever I can to help my team come out with the win,” said Juliece Losoya, varsity girls basketball captain.

Once exiting the gym, guests will not be allowed re-entrance. Pets are also not allowed.

To encourage\ student enthusiasm for homecoming, USB is promoting Spirit Week. Students can participate in Spirit Week by dressing up according to the theme of the day such as Duo Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and Fanatic Friday.
