L.A. Green Festival brings fresh ideas
by JOANNA LEI
Listening to inspirational speakers and learning how to live a healthier lifestyle, people gather at Green Festival events from around the country.
Green Festival is the largest and longest-running sustainability and green living event in the United States, according to greenamerica.org. Events are usually in New York City, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland each year. Their goal this year is to help people gain the knowledge to personally alleviate climate change and make the world a more viable place by saving water and recycling.
Attendees will see some features including sampling organic vegan and vegetarian food and beverages, shopping for eco-friendly objects and educational workshops on various topics.

“I think going to L.A. Green Festival will give me ideas on how to make the world a better and greener place. I will be more conscious on doing what is right, like throwing trash away and reusing things,” said Gabriela Plazas, earth science and biology teacher.
The L.A. Green Festival will be held today through Sunday. Hours are 12-6 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at the L.A. Convention Center in South Hall K.
“I would be interested in going because I want to eat healthier,” said Bryan Rojas, senior.
While seniors, active or reformer military personnel and those 16 and under can attend free, parents who want to take part in this event will have to pay. A single-day pass costs $12, a weekend pass is $22 and the three-day pass is $35. Sales ended yesterday for these three tickets.
“I would go because it can be knowledgable and teach you how to recycle properly. I would either ride the metro or a bike beacause those are both free modes of tranposrtation,” said Nathan Van, sophomore.
Attendees who ride bikes to the event can bring their helmets to the box office as proof for free entry. Metro riders are also eligible for free entry by showing ticket stubs.
