Hoping to dominate in their next games Dec.19-23, varsity and JV boys soccer teams will play in the North Orange County Tournament.

“Our goal this season is to try and take league and go into CIF by working on our communication skills and executing what we learned during practice in the games,” said senior David Hernandez, varsity striker.

The varsity team has recently won, 2-1, against the El Rancho Dons with goals by Angel Escobar and Jonathan Lopez, lost, 2-0, against the Sunny Hills Lancers, and lost, 3-1, against the Kennedy Titans.

“Last year, our varsity team was great, but this year we are trying even harder to improve much more,” said senior Rene Galvan.

The varsity strikers started out their season strong, and have been working hard to try and maintain it.

They tied, 1-1, in the Sonora Tournament, won, 1-0, against the California High Condors, tied, 1-1, with the La Habra Highlanders, and won, 2-0, against the Don Bosco Tigers.

“Now I will try twice as hard during our practices and keep my grades up so I can stay on the team,” said senior Jose Zepeda, varsity striker. “From my dedication to the team and grades, I will try to be a role model for my peers and teammates, too.”

The JV strikers lost, 2-0, against the El Rancho Dons, tied; 1-1, with the California High Condors, tied, 2-2, with the La Habra Highlanders, and won, 8-0, in their scrimmage against Don Bosco.

“Our team still has a couple of mistakes; however, we can improve a lot through working together,” said sophomore Joshua Murillo. “I think our JV team can improve on touch, communication, movement, and anticipation of the ball.”
