Cagerettes score win

Looking to add another win to their preseason record, the varsity cagerettes will play their first game in the El Capitan Tournament Dec. 26.
The team played the Bonita High Bearcats in an away game yesterday, but scores were not available at press time.
The cagerettes played South Hills High School Dec. 16 at home, winning 65-56.
“Our team seems to have excellent chemistry on and off the court this year,” said Varsity Head Coach Paul Chavez, “I believe they can go far this year.”
The varsity cagerettes scrimmaged against Schurr girls’ alumni Dec. 14, losing 78-69.
The Spartans competed in the Fountain Valley Tournament Dec. 7-12.They defeated San Juan Hills, 62-61, Dec. 7, but lost to Huntington Beach on Dec. 9, 55-46. In their final game of the tournament Dec. 11, they defeated Fountain Valley, 53-27.
“We seem to be a lot closer to each other on and off the court this season, “ said varsity co-captain Alicia Aguirre, “I am really excited and ready to take league.”
Starting their preseason strong, the cagerettes faced Baldwin Park Dec. 2, home, and won with a
score of 72-26. They were also victorious against Cal High, 78-34, in another home game Dec. 4.
With a preseason record of 5-1, the JV cagerettes will compete in the Glendora Tournament, starting Dec. 26.
The JV cagerettes played against the Bearcats in an away game yesterday, but scores were unavailable at press time.
In a home game Dec. 16, the Spartans defeated the South Hills Huskies, 40-20.
Competing in the Bonita Tournament Dec. 8-12, the JV team won three games out of four, taking second place overall.
In the first game of the tournament Dec. 8, the Spartans defeated the Los Osos Grizzlies with a score of 48-26. They emerged victorious in their second game against Bonita High School Dec. 10, winning 46-38 in overtime.
On Dec. 11, the JV Spartans played against the Bishop Amat Memorial Lancers and won with a
final score of 36-26. However, they fell to the Eleanor Roosevelt Mustangs in the championship game Dec. 12, losing 54-25.
In their early preseason, the JV cagerettes garnered two consecutive wins against the Baldwin Park Braves and California High Condors, with scores of 33-27 and 37-16, respectively.
With a preseason record of 2-0, the frosh/soph girls will compete in the Cerritos and Whittier Tournament Dec. 19-23.
