Renaissance will offer attendees of all grades a chance to dance under the stars at their annual formal, Nov. 14 from 6:30-11p.m. at the California Market Center (CMC).
The CMC is located at 110 E. 9th St. in Los Angeles. The site will include a dance floor under a glass ceiling, catering and, unlike years before, a separate room for dining.
“Big events have been held in this location, like the L.A. Fashion Market. It really is a beautiful place,” said Kenneth Seto, Renaissance adviser.
The menu is titled “Taste of Italy” and includes a variety of Italian dishes, such as lasagna and vegetable au gratin.
Like previous formals, a king and queen will be selected by votes of attendees. Nominations will take place Oct. 28 and top five voting is scheduled for Nov. 4. Final voting will be at the formal, where the winners will be crowned.
“It should be fun. I have high hopes since it’s my last year. It’ll also be my first time, so I don’t want to be let down,” said senior Maria Bonilla
Tickets are available in C-206and the student store until Nov. 10 for $70; USB card holders will receive a $5 discount.
Students are also given the opportunity to attend the formal for free through a fundraiser. Forms are available fromSeto in the same room to buy your tickets.
Guest passes for students who are not from Schurr and wish to attend are also available in Seto’s room. Guests must be 20 or younger andbe at least in high school. For the guest passes to be approved, they must be signed by Schurr’s principal and turned in by Nov. 6.
TheFall Renaissance Rally will be held Dec. 4. Students with a 2.5 GPA or above will receive tickets to the “Star Wars” themed event.
The rallywill recognizeand praise academic achievement and dedicated staff members.
“Renaissance gives motivation to all types of students. The rallies are a way of recognition and awardto all types of students,” said senior ArgenisValdovinos, leadership team member.
