Honors and AP students listened to a guest speaker who is an alumni and previous a NHS member at an assembly held Oct. 22

Later, they watched seniors who have excelled in areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character be named as new NHS members.

Matthew Bahk, Brenda Estrada, Judy Liang, Darlene Lie, Nicolas Lopez, Gabriel Macias, Christopher Magallanes, Nigel Reuda, Cesar Rios, and Kayla Sison were inducted into Schurr’s Chapter of NHS.

“After being inducted, it feels like everything has come true and my hard work has paid off,” said inductee Rueda.

Joe Chaides III, Schurr class of 2009, majored in environmental policy and analysis/environmental science at Boston University, spoke about goals and opportunities.

“There is no path to success, it just depends on how you are willing to take that step forward,” said Chaides.

Honors society members not only boast exceptional student ethics but also serve as freshman mentors. Freshmen seeking advice from upperclassman may join the NHS mentorship program.

“It feels good to be inducted. I would advise underclassmen to do your best and push yourself,” said inductee Macias.
