As the new school year begins, it is important to know how to relieve the stress that comes from the amount of work and pressure of classes.

From classwork to homework, students will be experiencing new workloads. Many will be able to handle this work; however, managing the stress that comes with it may not be so simple for some students.

Luckily, there are many simple and unique ways students can do to relieve stress that they can do all year long.

“When I’m stressed with school work, I step away from it,” said Joseph Guerena, junior. “I might listen to music or maybe talk to a friend about it. When I’m cooled off, I continue the work.”

Exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet, are some of the methods to relieving stress but, even just breathing and getting sleep may be enough to reduce stress, according to healthline.com

Students can find anything from general to personal methods to help reduce levels of pressure and stress.

“I like to play games like Counter Strike and watch Youtube videos with my friends when I am stressed out,” said Andy Peng, sophomore. “Other times I like just like to chill.”

By finding different methods to eliminate stress, one can reduce the potentially harmful effects such as heart disease, anxiety disorders and depression that can come from prolonged stress. This can be avoided if one is able to cope and regulate stress, according to nimh.nih.gov.

“I don’t go out of my way to relieve stress, but I give myself some free time by watching television or listening to music. Maybe even reading a book that I want to read,” said Gabriel Brossy De Dios, senior.

From eating healthy to playing video games or watching YouTube videos, a student is capable of reducing stress, allowing for a more productive and educational school year.
